Tower House - Tipperary

Tower House - Tipperary

This Tower House, known locally as " Dove Hill", is located on the banks of the river Suir at Ballindine, just a few miles west of Carrick-on-Suir.

Tower houses began to appear in the Middle Ages, especially in mountain or limited access areas. Their purpose was to command and defend strategic points with reduced forces. At the same time, they were also used as a noble's residence, around which a castleton was often constructed.
