Dromana Gateway - Waterford

Dromana Gateway - Waterford

Dromana Bridge and Lodges crosses the river Finisk, at Villierstown, near Cappoquin in County Waterford.

Located at an entrance to the Villiers-Stuart Estate is this extraordinary Hindu-Gothic Gateway which was built in 1849 by Lord Stuart de Decies. Local tradition maintains that the Arch was constructed as a temporary building to welcome home a couple from their Honeymoon. It’s believed that they were so impressed with it,that they had it made permanent. Dromona Bridge is the sole Example of ” Brighton Pavilion ” style Architecture in Ireland.
