Just above the tall Pines of the Forest and near enough to the lovely stream are the remains of Dwellings of long ago,Perhaps I would say Reminders of the Dreadful Famine years and the Tenant farmers of that period in Irish History,,,we can see today the conditions in which they toiled to survive,,it seems that in the areas of the homes they had planted nearly all Beech trees,,the trees are still here though old, they are a great shelter from the severe weather that beared down upon them as the areas are completly on the open Hillsides,,,we can see by the remains of the walls,,the dwelling house very small and some outhouses, store houses and the Haggard to which the animals would have been brought to at night and especially during Snows and rain and the hard Winters,,we can also see plots of land which were used for growing the Potatoes and everyday vegetables,,,,as the Drills/Beds are still visible today,,,, there is something special about standing within the walls of the old Farmhouse and your mind takes you back to the times when the place was Alive with the men, women and children and this was their Home,,,you wonder if there are Relatives in Ireland or as we Irish are famous for,, Scattered around the Globe,, may God Bless them all,,Amen !
