Hi there Wayne-Wil,
I thank you very much,I am really thrilled at the thought that Gurteen de la poer Castle the article on Documenting Ireland,has inspired you to sing "It' a Long Way to Tipperary" & paint an Acrylic of the lovely Gurteen in Remembrance Day 11th,i live in Waterford City and you will know the connection the great Power clan has with the Castle,,,the other week I was in Mothel in Co.Waterford and visited the burial plot of the De La Poers/Powers,,,there is a lot of the Gravestones that can be Read and it was very interesting to follow the Family from grave to grave all down the line and I spent a good while doing just that,,,really great,,,have you a site on the web or are you on YouTube,,,very interested in Music/singing,,,love all the Tenors,,Thank you for posting and Sorry I have only seen this now,,,I have uploaded a lot of stuff on Google+ lately,,,with some pics of your lovely Gurteen Castle & grounds,,,God Bless You All out there,,,,patd

My wife and I came to Taumgraney hoping to find some
info on my ggrandmother who lived in Ballyvannan. I went to the Catholic church centre and was greeted with a very warm reception. She took what little info I had and hand delivered it to our B&B that evening.
We went back the next day to thank her for the info (ggrandmother's Baptismal date). She then pointed to a corner of the room and said"there is the font that was used" in the baptism. How surreal that was because she was baptized on 12 Feb. 1833 . We were in Ireland 2 fabulous wks, but this was our favorite time
