I grew up just outside Carrick-on- Suir, in county Tipperary, close to the borders with Kilkenny and Waterford.
I’ve always had a great love of the countryside, of our rivers and the beautiful scenery that Ireland has to offer and also of animals, birds and wildlife in general. I emigrated to the U.K. in January1960 where I worked and also travelled around the charming and picturesque counties of Worcestershire, Devon and Cornwall before finally settling in London where I met and married a lovely lady called Kay in 1968.
Kay came from Waterford City in Ireland where we returned to in 1981. I have been living here in this beautiful and very historical city ever since.
I’ve always been interested in photography and more so since the advent of digital cameras, which combined with modern computer technology has made taking pictures and processing much easier.
I decided to launch this website after talking with a friend, Martin Mullen who had previously set up his own site " Prehistoric Waterford ".
The aims of “Documenting Ireland” is to give the wider audience a view of my travels within the "Emerald Isle " with photos and accurate descriptions of the places I visit. Whilst aiming to provide the best possible narratives, hopefully visitors to the website will see it as an informative reference point and a useful guide which can be used by those living within Ireland and also by tourists who may be planning a visit to the country.
