Welcome

Famed around the world for its lush green landscape, culture and traditions, Ireland on the western fringe of Europe has always been a unique destination for travellers through the centuries. The Celts, Vikings and Normans all left their mark on this land which is also known affectionately as the “Emerald Isle”.The country is one of Europe’s gems, a scenic mosaic of lake, mountain, sea and sky coupled with prehistoric remains, ancient castles, modern towns and cities surrounded by an ever changing beautiful landscape.

Documenting Ireland sets out to explore the land and its many attractions. On the website you will find many well known places and landmarks. However, the site also strives to go off the ‘beaten track’, to seek out and find lesser known places of interest which are not so often visited.

Hopefully you will enjoy your visit  as you browse through the website.
